Martin (Marty) Mitchell - Association of Military Banks of America

Marty is a former federal bank examiner, financial services consulting leader, and Army officer. He comes to AMBA from one of the top ten accounting firms in the United States having spent a combined 27 years in the regulatory compliance field as an examiner, auditor, consultant, principal, board member, and thought leader.

Marty is a retired U.S. Army Major. Following in his WWII veteran father’s footsteps, he joined as an enlisted soldier (Armor), later graduating from Officer Candidate School (OCS) Fort Benning, Georgia. Marty was commissioned as an Armor officer and served in a variety of Armor and Cavalry units worldwide until his retirement. His son followed the family tradition of military service with the U.S. Army.

During his time as a commissioned federal compliance examiner with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Marty was responsible for determining financial institution compliance with consumer protection laws, rules, and regulations as well as conducting Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and Fair Lending examinations for large and small banks. As a consultant he served the largest, most complex clients nationwide including Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles and many more. While with one of the largest banks in the United States he led the design and implementation of their corporate level mortgage compliance program through a period of business closures, acquisitions, and regulatory scrutiny.

Marty holds a BBA from McKendree University and has been a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) for over 25 years.
