Mr. Tim Hsia - Association of Military Banks of America

Tim Hsia is a distinguished honor graduate of West Point and was commissioned as an infantry officer in the US Army and deployed twice to Iraq.

Tim transitioned from active duty in 2010 and graduated from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business and Stanford Law School in 2014. While at Stanford, he taught ROTC to cadets at Stanford and Santa Clara University. He has served in the US Army Reserves from 2010-2026.

Tim is the founder of Context Ventures. Context Ventures is an early-stage venture fund that invests in exceptional founders (we call them X-men) across all sectors with a special (but not exclusive) emphasis on investing in military veteran founders. We invest in space, defense, and dual-use, fintech, B2B, and consumer startups. We primarily invest, but we also incubate companies. We host several events and conferences a year for startups and military veterans

He is the co-founder of VetraFi. VetraFi is a digital banking platform built for the U.S. military community.

Tim is a published writer in the Infantry Magazine, Small Wars Journal, The Los Angeles Times, and The New York Times (two op-eds and a writer for At War). He is the co-author of The Business of Venture Capital: Building a Venture Firm, Investing in Startups, and Driving Returns.

He serves on the nonprofit boards of Service to School (co-founder), The Marines’ Memorial Foundation (Marine Memorial Club and Hotel), and the Army Historical Foundation.
